The Hackney Arabian cross is producing some of the best Half-Arabian English Pleasure and Park Horses ever to hit the arena! At Equi-Legends our breeding goals are lofty, yet simple. "To breed the highest stepping, most beautifully refined, winning Half Arabian English Pleasure and Park horses in the world today!" is our mission statement! The Hackney horse and its crosses on other breeds are the highest naturally stepping horses in the world with none higher stepping than the purebred Hackney. That fact made our breeding decision as to what breed to cross to an easy choice!
The Hackney horse was also chosen as a compliment to the Arabian. We love the Arabian horse and feel strongly that the Half Arabian show horse should be Arab like, only improved in the area that makes it better for its chosen discipline. In other words, we want our Half Arabians and those of our breeders to be gorgeous headed, long upright necked, huge moving English types that still have Arab like qualities. We feel that some of the other breed choices obliterate the Arab part with larger, less pretty heads, and more draft like style.
As with any breeding program, choosing the right individuals is what makes or breaks your program. At Equi-Legends the second part of our mission statement is a very important ingredient "most beautifully refined".
